Our journey with the Animal Fables continues. To give the children the stability that comes from continuity we'll keep the same general format for the lessons.
There will be a big new learning step at the end of this week. The children will be given the opportunity to write their own short sentence about the stories. Exciting!
The sun with loving light
Makes bright for me each day.
The soul with spirit power gives strength unto my limbs.
In sunlight shining clear,
I reverence oh God,
The strength of humankind
That thou so graciously has planted in my soul
That I, with all my might,
May love to work and learn.
From thee come light and strength,
To thee rise love and thanks.
I'm as light as air,
I'm in every song,
But you can't even hold me
Ten minutes long.
I'm very, very skinny,
But I've got lots of long hair.
I love to stand on my head
And slide everywhere.
I have a bright red coat which is where you start,
But you may find many brown children in my heart.
Both day and night I stay in bed,
Yet I never sleep or rest my head;
I have no feet to skip or hop,
And yet I run and never stop.
I go through the mud,
And through the mud again
On the earth, in the water, in the sand and on the grass,
And yet I only leave one track.
Betty Botter bought a bit of butter;
“But,” she said, “this butter's bitter!
If I put it in my batter
It will make my batter bitter.
But a bit o’ better butter
Will make my batter better.”
Then she bought a bit o’ butter
Better than the bitter butter,
Made her bitter batter better.
So ’twas better Betty Botter
Bought a bit o’ better butter.
Keep practicing the tongue twisters from week 1 and 2.

Keep singing the songs from Week 1 and Week 2 too.
Oh you can't catch me, you can't catch me,
Run as quick as water but you can't catch me!
If you catch me you shall have a ball,
That once the daughter of a king let fall.
So it rolled down the hill,
And it rolled down the plains,
And the king's daughter never caught the ball that day!
'cause you can't catch me, you can't catch me,
Run as quick as water but you can't catch me!
If you catch me you shall have a bird,
That once the son of a beggar heard.
So he climbed up a tree,
But the bird flew away,
And the beggar's son never caught the bird that day!
'cause you can't catch me, you can't catch me,
Run as quick as water but you can't catch me!
for when you use you skipping rope!

What you will need:
A piece of soft card or hard paper (white)
A sheet of A4 paper (white)
A pair of scissors
A lead pencil
A sewing needle and some white thread
Please could you complete step 1 before the beginning of the lesson.
We will do steps 2 and 3 during the lesson.
You can make more than one dove to have a proper flight!
Step 1:
Please trace or copy the template on a hard bit of paper or soft card. Then cut it.
Step 2:
Fold the sheet of A4 paper into an accordion. Then cut a slit in the back to slide the wings.
Step 3:
Sew a string from the back of the dove so you can hang it on a branch or wherever you want.
A few after thoughts:
It actually works better if you sew the 2 wings together at the top and hang it from there.
You could also use tissue paper for the wings, it give them a lighter, more aerial quality.
And finally, your dove doesn't have to be white, you could make it any colour that you want!
Now that our lesson has ended,
What we have learnt will rest.
When we have done our very best,
Wisdom, love and power will grow,
And we shall bless all those we know.
