Hello everyone,
For our second week we'll keep focusing on literacy. Last week the story content was Home Surroundings. Home Surroundings stories are the imaginative foundations of science, history and geography - lessons which become gradually differentiated from Class 4 upwards.
For the next 3 weeks we will be looking at Animal Fables. With the Animal Fables we are striving for a characterological profile of the human being through the animal kingdom.
The format of our work will be similar to last week.
On Friday we will be doing another dictation and a new craft activity.
Have a lovely week!
Lucy
The sun with loving light
Makes bright for me each day.
The soul with spirit power gives strength unto my limbs.
In sunlight shining clear,
I reverence oh God,
The strength of humankind
That thou so graciously has planted in my soul
That I, with all my might,
May love to work and learn.
From thee come light and strength,
To thee rise love and thanks.
Round and round
I spin and spin.
The more I turn,
The further I'm in.
Back and forth and forth and back,
Busily we go,
Pushing off whatever falls
To let the outside show.
Many little holes in me,
But I don't get wet.
If you put me in the water,
I will float, I bet!
I grow up with roots below.
I grow straight or twist around.
But I have no leaves to show,
And no flowers to be found.
Many little black bugs
On a white sheet
Standing in neat little rows.
If you turn the sheet over,
There is another underneath,
And on and on it goes.
Swing, swing and sing as we swing,
our voices will ring
if we sing as we swing
and we swing as we sing!
Splish, splosh, splish, splosh!
Through the puddles Tim is splashing.
Splish, splosh, splish, splosh!
Soon his socks will need a washing!
Timothy Titus took two tees
to tie two tubs to two tall trees
to terrify terrible Thomas a Tattermus!

'Snowdrops' Song
Keep singing the songs from Week 1 too.
Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down and broke his crown
And Jill came tumbling after.
Up Jack got and home did trot,
As fast as he could caper;
Went to bed to mend his head
With vinegar and brown paper.
Two squirrels did run around a tree.
They chased their tales most merrily.
They chased their tails into a blur
Whose tail was whose they were not sure.
Did you ever see a rainbow
On a lovely winter's day?
After it's been raining early on a misty Monday?
Out of a cloud it comes near
And then it gradually disappears.
Down the waterfall.
Down from the farthest heights.
Down o'er slippery stones.
Down with watery might.
Splash the water's foam.
Crash the water's home.
Flash the water's gone.
Proud prancing ponies parade in a line.
Not hurried , not worried each stepping in time.
Their backs they hold proudly, their backs straight and strong,
Each stepping so lively as they march along.
Whisky, frisky, hippety hop,
Up he runs to the tree top.
Whirly, furly, round and round,
Down he scampers to the ground.
Furly curly what a tail,
Tall as a feather, broad as a sail.
Where's his supper? in the shell.
Snappy, cracky out it fell.

A pair of scissors
A lead pencil
Colour pencils
A length of elastic string
A hole puncher
Please could you complete step 1and possibly step 2 before the beginning of the lesson. It would be probably easier if you did that rather than your child. We will do step 3 during the lesson.
Step 1: Trace or copy the template on a hard bit of paper or soft card. Then cut it.
Step 2: Trace the features
Step 3: Colour and punch 2 holes for the elastic
Enjoy your foxes everyone!
Now that our lesson has ended,
What we have learnt will rest.
When we have done our very best,
Wisdom, love and power will grow,
And we shall bless all those we know.
This text explains why the children are not told the moral of each Fable.
